RIP Bettie Page

Sadness :(

Thank you for being an inspiration to me and thousands of others...

XMASXMASXMAS!!

Its almost xmaasss!!  Ive just broken up for my holidays, ive made and wrapped all my xmas presents, my room is covered in glitter (probably for the next 6 months) from my MERRY XMAS glitter sign from the 99p shop in elephant and castle, and im going home on sunday!

I thought it would be really funny to get really tacky wrapping paper for some reason (it made sense at the time) but im just thinking that people might not get the joke and think its really crap! ahh well, its all part of xmas! the wrapping paper, the tinsel and the irritating music - so it all makes me happy!

Im also making my costume for the xmas grind a go go from Oh my god i miss you in bethnal green tomorrow! im going as an xmas pud, which basically consists of my black catsuit, white booties (plate?) a holly headband i made and a cream cape! im also considering cutting out droplets of cream to stick on my torso - it shall be amazing :P i just need to go to berwick street today to go buy some cheapo fabric to cut up.  - I also told Leona (aka miss lady luck) about it and she wants me to dress as a pud to the design grotto at somerset house that im working at!

I helped out at her swap party last night with my friend Lotte being the drinks woman, and lotte being the food woman. People were not exactly polite when grabbing dresses off the rails and I got a bit annoyed at this woman who laughed and said "oh I find it funny the way youre dressed, are you all dressed up for the event?" and i was like "erm..no! i dress like this normally and ive been wearing it all day!"  - how rude! It might have been the holly headdress that was too much for her, but I actually had been wearing it all day.
Overall though I had a really fun time as everyone who works there is really lovely and the gingerbread men were decorated so nicely! (most people there were not like that woman thankfully) I also managed to get some purple ear muffs and a balloon necklace in the swaps and Lotte got a lovely skirt!

I will try and get photographs of the event when they're on Lady luck!

aww crap i'm really bad at updating...oopsy!

well i've henna-d my hair on a whim! I bought the Caca Noir lush brand henna which is fun because you have to grate it and then mix it and then put loooads on and keep it on for several hours and then wash off for a veeryyy long time and it turned the
shower green and my body grey...okay perhaps not sooo much fun but it looks nice now! and the grey came off (onto my pijamas when i was sleeping >_<)

unfortunatly not many people have noticed though even though its considerably darker than it was before :S only when I mention it they go "ohhhh! i seeeee!", but ahh well I like it!

I went to the urban outfitters in convent garden event night with free alchy and lady luck discounds and temporary tattoos and benefit discounts, which was nice! and later on we went to the discounts night on on Carnaby Street - that was insaaane...too many people.

Diddn't actually buy anything except for some stuffing and a pedal bin from artbox for my bathroom - strange, I have money but not urge to spend on things I dont need...is this maturity?!

Southwark is pretty close to everywhere - I walked to Covent Garden in twenty Minutes, which is almost the same time as on a tube (there are many changes) so I think I shall start walking more - everything is closer together than it seems! One of my favourite things to do is just walk around London, theres always something new!

super

I've had this week off for assessment week (where i guess they assess work!) so I took the opportunity to have a look around London - go places I hadnt been before!

I went to an exhibition at the Tate Britain for my drawing project (400 years of drawing - very good, I especially enjoyed the David Shrigley (i never know how you spell it) animation of a lightswitch which made me repeatedly turn on and off my own bedroom light) After that me and Lotte were up to Oxford Street - topshop sale! pants for a quid! hurrah! and a Laura Lees dress for half price that I had wanted for aages

Decided to have a market weekend after that, going to Borough market for food (as I always do) then to Spitalfields with my flatmate - Rather smaller than I imagined but nevertheless some really great stalls! Obviously there were those chinese doll things that are EVERYWHERE, but they had some really original ones with conquergear.com with some cute tees...

But my personal favourite was lovefromhettyanddave.co.uk which do
SUPERCUTE handmade stuff out of leather!  I bought mr mustache here ( I love him sooo much! and he compliments my tatty necklace)... but they do other
s which I wish that I could buy if I had more money!

On the saturday I went on a looong
walk around Portobello market, I really wanted to find something to buy b
ut found it all a bit too expensive and touristy, and I diddnt find anything I wanted anyway, ahh well was good exercise - On the night Eunie and I went to see Slow Club and Tilly and the Wall at ULU- probably one of the best gigs ive been to as I really love both of the bands and it was just so relaxed but super happy and everyone was just dancing
around having a good time - I would deffinatly suggest seeing either of these two bands, but together it was just amazing! That was followed by a midnight snack at Ed's Diner in Soho! they do the best milkshakes!

(photos taken by Eunie)

Halloween soon! I'm going to see The Mighty Boosh (YAAAAAAAY!!) on friday!!!! aka 31st aka halloween - therefore it demanded a very special costume! which I have been making instead of doing my university work but hey! im being creative and creativity counts in art school! (I hope)
My inital idea was to go a
s the Crack Fox, but I diddnt know how or where to get fake fur and other such problems so i'm going as an eel from the EELS! song :D and eels are pretty scary anyway! It basically consists of me looking a twit in a catsuit with a fish head made out of cardboard! im thinking of creating some sort of tail fin but thats in the making! total cost: £0! found the boxes in the kitchen and already had the catsuit mwhahah!
check it out so far:

The reaction so far has been "what ARE you?!??!" followed by laughter, laughter, and "you look like a monster from pokemon"...so its all good! Its going to be a fun walk around Birmingham on friday then!

If I wasnt going to see the boosh I probably wouldve gone to ghost a go go at Oh My God I Miss You! though...looks amazing! and go on their website for information and a spooktacular tune!
www.ohmygodimissyou.com

Happy Halloween everyone!!!
may the spooks be with you :D

Finally!

Finally! will do last Reading post!
Rightyho!

XX Teens - First in the tent for these! Had wanted to see them for ages, but were more 'rocky' than ' crazy', not a bad thing but a little different from expected. Plus i kept thinking the singer looked like Ob from Hollyoaks!

Also saw the Death Set in the lavely dance tent, followed by...

Robots in Disguise - Glitter ball spaceship = genius! Lots of booshy fans expecting a glimse of a noel...

The Whip - Even better than last time I saw them; shame that I was eating my lunch when they were on so floor dancing was necessary

Holy Fuck - Wasnt sure what to expect but loved it all the same!

To the Festival Republic stage to hear the cute tunes of Emmy the Great and the bloody awful whatever they call music of The Rascals...bleugh he looks like a troll...
Cage the Elephant - AMAZING! the minute he came on naked except for a tutu with red paint all over him I knew it would be good haha! Ended up getting the red stuff on my jumper and face cus he gave me a crowd hug and a kiss...which was nice :D Will deffinantly be seeing them again!

Then off to the Dance tent on my noddy to try and get to the front for CSS (huzzah!)

Whilst I was there I saw Digitalism and Simian Mobile Disco...

and finally...
CSS! - Amazing! Lots and lots of confetti, yellow facepaint and balloons! cant wait to see them again sooon

Only 6 more sleeps till the big move...

Slow Club and others

Need to finish reviewing Reading at some point! but first whilst frantically trying to mend my sodoku (or metroku ha ha) I shall tell of slow club...

went down to London to enrole on the 2nd (hurrah the promise of i-d cards!) with my boyfriend and we took the opportunity to go see Slow Club playing at Pure Groove. They were really amazing and cute and Rebecca had my dress! Also wierdly met Jeremy Warmsley who was in his words "mooching around" haha!

Photobucket

They were nice enough to sign my ep...arent they lovely haha!

Photobucket

also shown is my new tatty brooch! it is part of their new collection (which is A-mazing!) and makes more sense when worn in a zip like fashion. My boyfriend got the huge paperclip necklace but im sure i shall be investing a lot more dosh into that new collection!

Photobucket

About a week ago I also went to see Crystal Castles - we got there much too late so I had to sit on a post to see which wasnt the most comfy...unfortunatly they did a really short set and seemed really angry to be there...ahh well

Photobucket

Here is my new vintage (well...2nd hand :P ) mirror from the snoopers paradise in Brighton! finally up!! Its so beautiful I feel so sad to be leaving it! it's also super heavy so I hope it doesnt break my wall!
Im also wearing my little army hat I got from this military stand at Reading Festival, it folded up well into my bumbag!

mirror mirror on the wall...

More More Reading

I forgot to mention Ida Maria from friday! so here we go:

Ida Maria: lovely husky voice and nice tophat - however I wish she had worn a bra!! a very close nipple call!

Next onto sat from Reading festival...

Bombay Bicycle Club: I still can't believe that they're my age its insane that theyre so good, the dancing panda was appreciated!

Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong: skinny skinny skinny but nice dancing/prancing

The Subways: sort of prefer their first album, was having lunch through their set anyway.

Mystery Jets: I love them anyway but we diddnt manage to get to the front and the amount of people there was phenomenal and I couldnt really see anything, but their playing was brill.

Los Campesinos: Got really confused thinking I was listning to White Lies for a while yet recognising the songs...silly me! Especially as I have their album :S was too far back to see but great set to dance to anyway!

Louis XIV: Have been wanting to see Louis XIV since I was about 15 and they diddnt dissapoint! Boogilicious sex rock hehehe

Black Kids: We were outside for these but were really good anyway!

Also saw Raconteurs, Bloc Party and the Killers

Last night i went to see Crystal Castles with my boyf, but they seemed really angry for some reason....or really drunk....and did a really short set but ahh well

Reading Festival

I actually returned on monday but have been busy since then - Reading was amazing but a bit scary on the last day with a delightful apocoliptic feel as people burned tents and danced insanely on the toilets! (or should i say excrement troughs? I think that description would be much more fitting!)

I will do a little review of the bands I saw (photos provided by www.bbc.co.uk/bbc3 or from flickr) on friday:

Future of the Left: possibly provided the best lyrics of the day with "SAUUUSSAGE ON A STIIIIIICCKKKKKK"

Pete and the Pirates: Angular and to the point, just playing no talking, wham bam thank you mam - but more pirate-y

Blood Red Shoes: Amazing as always! gorgeous as always! check check check!!! (preeettyy dreeess)

Be Your Own Pet: wellll....I think they'd given up by this point! Drunk/ stoned/who knows, but from Adventure onwards they were good - but oh my goodness I wish i suited those jeans!

Caught the end of Florence and the Machine, Esser.... then
Friendly Fires: Probably the best show of the whole event! Brazilian dancers + Brazilian drummers + confetti + pretty friendly fires man = amazing!

The Teenagers: Surpisingly much better than I thought live! Would deffinantly re-see. Poor singer fell of an amp onto his bum though, looked very very painful!

Late of the Pier: Last time I saw them was in a tiny tiny Bar Academy venue in Birmingham so I was rather surprised when this gig was incredibly painful! They were in their pijamas. Their emails give me joy and this one is my favourite pierling...

Rage against the Machine: Was an amazing experience to see these, even if just from afar! Very very political!
Will upload Saturday and Sunday once I have gathered more pictures! like a squirrel...or a stamp collector.

3. the arcades on the pier! ahh the profits made then gambled away again on the 2p machine

4. they have american apparel!
5. reminds me of quadraphenia!

bad things about brighton:

1. its bloody windy and the shingle hurts!

apart from that its all good....

Off to Reading festival tomorrow!! My first overnight festival and first time camping! Im just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping my stuff doesnt get nicked!

its amazing how for weeks you do nothing (or very little) and then suddenly everything happens at once

Underage

Last friday I went down to London to go the the Underage festival in Victoria Park as it was the last year i'm actually underage! It was a bit strange getting trampled by about 700 14 year olds and the age difference was a bit wierd but generally it was good - my favourite youngster was a 12 year old with foofy hair and prince charming velvet sleaves, i mean I was still wearing like "tammy girl" and listning to red hot chilli peppers at 12, not ipso facto or xx teens! Also - i met Lizo from newsround! that was an experience and a half!

The Horrors and Mystery Jets cancelling was a bit dissapointing and the disorganisation of the timetable was annoying (went to see ox.eagle.lion.man. and bloody Polly scattergood was playing!) so we just ignored that and stayed at the front of the converse stage.

I bought some wellies also for Reading festival, which im going to next weekend, and underage and purchased my first ever sleeping bag!

Apart from that i'm just sorting out uni things, baking a lot, gymming almost everyday, tidying obsessively :S and watching much to much television (come dine with me is back on!) but this weekend i'm going down to Brighton with my parents for my summer holiday as we have never been before.

I've also been shopping once at tkmaxx where I got some irregular choice wedges and a cute kangaroo duffle bag!! I think it may be made for kids but its a really decent size and much cheaper than the American Apparel one i was going to buy - hurrah!
